Ironically, most German car manufacturers prefer to use alphabets and numbers rather than the names on their models. If BMW has E46, Mercedes has W124, Audi has A4, Porsche has 911.
Behind the alphabet and numbers, Volkswagen seems to be taking a neutral stance. They are more comfortable using names, although what they choose is sometimes absurd. Golf? Golf is also derived from the German word for Gulf Stream, a type of weather phenomenon that occurs in the Atlantic ocean.
Fortunately, many people buy cars not because of the name, but because of the need, quality and performance. Despite its strange name, Golf still remains the best-selling product of Volkswagen. Various variants have been introduced, including the much-respected version of GTi.
Despite being supplied with a rather delicious engine, the owner still expects something more than this German tech engine. To that end, a series of upgrades have been made including the use of conrod and an 83mm piston set from Wossner.
The air intake comes from the K&N filter, complete with MSR Performance entry pipe. For the fuel delivery system, the gasoline pump uses a high pressure unit from Autotech before being channeled to the Audi S3 injector set. Not to mention the use of the Audi R8 spark plug set, Turbosmart actuator, Forge Motorsport diverter valve, as well as the larger Audi S3 intercooler unit to ensure a perfect cooling process.
The upgrade continues to the exhaust section which now uses the SuperCircuit-designed downpipe, before being connected to a 3-inch custom pipe. It not only helps generate power, but also makes a more interesting sound. In line with the improvements that have been made, the ECU unit receives a stage-2 reflash process for better acceleration response.
Power from the engine is delivered via a reconfigured 6-speed DSG smart gearbox. Ensuring precise grip, the 225 / 40R-18 Good Year Eagle F1 tire set has been matched to the Enkei NT03RR rim. The car's position is then lowered via the Eibach spring set and the Bilstein B8 shock absorber. While the pulak stop system is enhanced, with the AP Racing CP5060 6-pot brake kit on the front. It's okay!
The tuning style of Euro cars is usually quite sleek and simple. For example, this car may look like nothing. Not our toy, where to notice. It has actually been matched to the Golf R-owned body kit covering components such as the front bumper, rear bumper, side skirt and rear lights. Some other components include the Exotic Tuning lip, skirt and rear diffuser, RevoSport hood, GT spoiler, as well as eyelid and carbon fiber canard.
The interior is still in its original condition, except for the use of a pair of Recaro SR7 seats on the front. Things are okay, I want to change it. For boost monitoring, temperature and oil pressure, a neatly planted cluster of Defi Advance CR meters is placed on the Osir meter housing. A little bit of carbon fiber decoration on the panels is important, also helps add fun to this space.
