A clean Volkswagen Jetta

As the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc around the globe, people are advised to wash hands to slow spread of the disease and "flatten the curve". Even though there are many things I don't know about the disease, one thing is for sure: no matter how many times you wash your hands, they won't be as clean as this '89 Volkswagen A2 Jetta.

This example here up bids on Bring-A-Trailer is one of the finest examples of ... any car, really. It was originally sold in Quebec and only has 21k kilometers (~13k miles) on the clock. On top of that, it's a one of 500 GLI Trophy model sold in Canada, which came with a 1.8L 16V DOHC inline-4 with Bosch KE-Jetronic port fuel injection that was good for 123hp at 5,800 rpm.

Other Trophy model specific features include 15'' BBS wheels, Recaro sports seats, and quarter panel decals.

And check out the dashboard - back when the only thing distracting you from the act of driving is the squadron of warning lights, a far cry from the dual-screen offerings from most modern cars. Who even knows what they mean when the bottom row isn't even labelled?

On top of all, it comes with a 5-speed manual. With the A2 Jetta generally receiving praises from its solid handling, this thing should be good fun. But of course, we all know it will end up in a garage, sitting there until it's up for the next auction, looking as clean as it has always been.
