2017 Toyota Celica release date, specs, review

Lately we can hear a lot of rumors from Toyota about future models. Beside FT-1, that was officially presented, there are some speculations about resurrection of old legendary models – Toyota Celica and Toyota Supra. The 2017 Toyota Celica is still in concept stadium and its design will be based on Toyota 86 model. The Celica has a long tradition and a lot of fans all around the world. There are no official statements, but based on available information around the internet and presuppositions we can recapitulate some details about next Toyota Celica 2017. 

The exterior of the 2017 Toyota Celica will be completely redesigned and it will be based on Toyota 86 model. On the front it will have new bumper with integrated foglights. It will be surrounded with HID reflector-beam headlights, with standard LED daytime running lights and automatic high beam. The new hood will come with air-intake that enables better breathing to engine. On the rear it will have LED taillights and large spoiler. Using lightweight materials, the 2017 Celica will be lighter which will promise better performance, smooth handling and better fuel economy. Inside the cabin it will come with some aluminum and chrome details. Soft-touch materials with leather details will give special refine look. Heated and powered sport seats will raise comfort on other level. It will come with some technological improvements like Infotainment system with satellite navigation and large touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, audio system with six speakers. 

The heart of the upcoming Toyota Celica 2017 will be 2.0-liter powerplant that propels 2015 Lexus NX 200t. Inside the Lexus this 4-cylinder turbocharged engine produces 235 horsepower and 258 horsepower. This will be only powerplant but like Supra it could have Hybrid version which will improve performance and fuel economy. The next Celica will be available with 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic CVT transmission with paddle shifters on steering wheel. With with automatic gearbox it will have improved fuel economy that will be rated around 30 mpg on highway.

The 2017 Toyota Celica release and price are both in range of speculation. We could see its premiere in last quarter of 2015 or in first half of 2016, probably on one of the Asian car shows. With $20,000 estimated base price and with great history, the next Toyota Celica 2017 would certainly jeopardize competition in this segment of sport cars.
