New Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Specification released in Malaysia

At the first glance, I thought that Malaysia Police will introduce several more Evo 10 as their patrol car. However when I took a look at the specification of the car, it was more to the Mitsubishi Attrage specification. Thus it might be wrong image inserted during the newspaper was printed.

HOLD ON! 280KM/h with a 77HP and 100Nm engine? FTW! I just don't understand how the editor approve this kind of stupid mistake to be made. Or maybe I'm wrong as this might be a newly engine developed by Mitsubishi specially dedicated to Malaysia Police patrol car.

Project Kancil: Changing Front Brake Pads for JBJL (L5)

The brake pads were changed when I did my L5 engine conversion and the pads served me well in this 4 years of time. The wear of the pads were terrible and the right pad was already wore till the metal and started to make noise when I stepped on the brake pedal. Fortunately the brake disc is still in good shape even though being tortured by the wore out brake pads for almost a week.

I got them replaced by the new brake pads and the process of changing brake pads ain't troublesome. The tools that you needed were spanner, screw driver and a brake piston reset kit. Let's start the D.I.Y process after the jump.

Project Kancil: Radiator replacement

Sometimes I dream that is it possible to have 25 hours per day instead of 24 hours. This additional 1 hour would possibly allow me to update this blog and reply to all the comments and emails.  So I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to those who comment and mail for late response.

Previous post I mentioned about rusty stain around the the radiator here, unfortunately what I suspected was correct. As usual needed to source for a replacement and at first I thought to replace it with a full aluminum radiator but what mostly in the market were for manual transmission. Thus gave up and straight away gave my dad a.k.a "my personal runner" to source for me in Ipoh. While waiting for my dad good news, I had to use epoxy to temporary fill up the leaking spot. Luckily without much afford he was able to get me a used aluminum unit with only RM150.

DIY: Manual Boost Controller Installation

Forced Induction is the easiest way to increase a car performance. However by only adding turbo to your car without setting a correct boost level may lead to engine failure or power dissatisfaction.  Talking about setting the correct boost level, a boost controller comes into mind. A boost controller is a device to control the boost level produced in the intake manifold of a turbocharged or supercharged engine by affecting the air pressure delivered to the pneumatic and mechanical wastegate actuator.

So now let's talk about how to install a manual boost controller with D.I.Y method to save up the installation fees.

Project Kancil: Faulty Alternator

Seriously is it the time for me to pass on this project car? Or continue to hang on with it? After resurrect from a spoiled turbo problem and the engine won't crank or start after a few days of service. Borrowed a multimeter from a friend and measured the battery by connecting the meter to the posts of the battery. Red on positive post, black on the negative post. With the engine idling, it should be reading between 13.6 to 14.3 volts. However for my case it was around 12 volts and started to drop to 10 volts after turned on the headlight. Thus with this result, I can assured that the alternator need to be replaced.

Another quick method to test whether the alternator is working or not without using the multimeter is to disconnect the battery negative post. If the engine stop running, it means that the alternator is faulty.

Project Kancil: Is Back In Action

Missing in action for months and finally it is back in action again. What I did to it was just replace the jammed turbo with a similar model and added some performance parts to it. It was a nightmare to get a used turbo around in Ipoh halfcut shops. Either the shops do not carry the unit itself or it cost way a lot more for a good unit compare to the market price.

After months of hunting around, finally my dad able to get me a used unit which cost me about RM350 which I understand that you may get it cheaper somewhere in KL areas. Before fixing it, I sourced a stainless steel intake pipe to couple along with the new turbo unit from a seller who actively involve in Kcarlife facebook. Hope with this, there will be no sand or what so ever to enter the turbo inlet and jam it.

International Automotive News: Porsche Cayman GT3/GT4 under consideration

A spy photo which caught this Cayman mule around on the road in Germany. In a glance we can see that this isn't any Cayman we know off previously. This Cayman is unlike with the GTS, the front splitter wraps around all the way to the wheels, there's a scoop or vent on the top of the front bumper cap, and there's the massive rear wing whose shape loosely resembles that of a 911 GT3. Underneath that wing, there's a revised duck tail spoiler. It's lower than a normal Cayman, and it has larger brakes. With the chief engineer of the all-new 991-generation Porsche 911 GT3 has confirmed that producing a hardcore, GT3-style version of the mid-engined Cayman is “under discussion”. This might be the all new Cayman GT3/GT4. Let's stay tune and wait for more information leak from Porsche.

Quickest Mitsubishi Colt AWD in germany 978HP / 0-186mph street test

Many of those 90s Mitsubishi Colts have long since retired or found homes at scrap yards but somewhere in Germany, there lurks a beast that just happens to look like a Mitsubishi Colt. This one is armed with an outrageous turbocharger which together with some ECU re-mapping maximizes all the power it can get out of its 2.0-liter engine.

You may think it is pretty ludicrous to give such a modest car 978hp and 871Nm of torque but thankfully Boba Motorsport did not and the car's creator says it will do 0 to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds, go from 62 mph to 124 mph in 3.7 seconds, and reach a top speed of 196 mph. Aside from engine modification, there are some visual modifications including a rear spoiler and larger front air intake. Continue to watch the movie...

Malaysia Automotive News: New Alza or Myvi?

Stumble upon this picture - a modified Perodua from the internet. Not pretty sure what actual model is this, it might be Perodua Myvi or Alza. At first glance, it might looks like the Infinite model but after a more careful look; it has a different bumper design and headlamp design. With the new modification, it changed to something VW Golf GTi look a like headlamp and with a customized front bumper. For those who own a Myvi/Alza, you may consider to do the same modification to your car as well.

Project Kancil: JB-JL decided to become a NA engine

What a bad Chinese New Year I had this year. Planned to drive my Celica back to Penang so went back to Ipoh last week with my Kancil. Previously I blog about the silicone intake piping that I bought to replace my Kancil's bad condition intake pipe but due to my laziness and there is nothing bad happen that caused by the piping thus far, so I assume that the pipe is still good to go and still have not install the new pipe yet until now.

Because of my laziness and assumption; it caused me to pay for it. Why I said so? This was because my Kancil's turbo "kong" a.k.a stop spinning during the journey back to my hometown. To be exacted, it happen some where after Cangkat Jering, Taiping. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to continue driving the car back and kept my finger cross hoping there is no debris from the turbo enter to the engine.

Car Info: SURBO !? Works or Not?

I understand that this Surbo product is already been discussed for many years, but is this really works or just something that does not worth the money to invest? So what is Surbo actually? The Surbo is a cross-jetting air pressure vortex generator that is assisted by engine brake regeneration (conversion of engine braking to forward momentum). In other words, the Surbo is an air pump.

Let's discuss further about this little thingy that claimed by the company which able to increase horsepower and improve fuel consumption. First of all, this product claimed that it will improve the air pressure vortex that enter to your throttle body. So based on this theory, it will allow more air to your engine combustion area; more air + fuel = more power.

The Wild Wild Hella Flush Toyota Celica

If you are a car enthusiast, then you will definitely seen this craziest modified Toyota Celica owned by Kawashima-san from Japan. It is a car that everyone was talking about by just looking at it, of cause with the crazy 15 degree of negative camber. Thus let's take a look of this car from the very beginning looks to what it is right now after the jump.
