The Gallardo GT3 FL2 is based on the recently revamped MY2013 Gallardo
and has been created in cooperation with Reiter Engineering, the German
outfit that has developed its own racing versions of Lamborghini models
since 2000 netting 199 victories and 350 podium finishes.
The new race car’s official title is Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 FL2, and
it will be ready to start racing in the 2013 motorsport season.
The GT3 FL2 features “24-hour” (i.e.
fade-resistant) brakes, improved engine cooling, reduced fuel
consumption, a new front splitter, a rear carbon fiber diffuser based on
that used by the Super Trofeo cars and a weight reduction of 25 kg (55
pounds) compared to the previous Gallardo GT3.
To oversee its expanding motorsport program, Lamborghini has established a new Lamborghini Squadra Corse racing department at its headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. The department will also oversee the existing Blancpain Super Trofeo one-make racing series and a new customer driving program.
