4G93T GSR First Generation Differentiation

Since Malaysia government had changed the rules and regulation for engine conversion, which all Proton cars except Proton Perdana cannot convert to 2.0L engine, the Mitsubishi Lancer GSR 4G93T is one of the highest horsepower turbo engine that can fit into Proton cars (only applicable for those who wish to register their car to JPJ and legally on the road). From the topic, it is clearly shows that this is the first generation 4G93T GSR 1.8L from the Mitsubishi Lancer.

There are two types of engine specification throughout the entire life of the Mitsubishi 4G93T first generation engine. There are the normal version which capable to produce approximately 190hp and the 4G93T RS from the wagon also known as Libero in Malaysia here which able to produce approximately 210hp.

How to Build a Lift Controller for VVTLi (2ZZ-GE)

The lift controller is comprised of few simple components.

1. An RPM switch - which used an MSD 8969 Digital window switch Found Here.

2. A VVT/VVL solenoid - any solenoid from 1ZZ or 2ZZ

3. A micro switch - Anything that is SPDT or SPST that is NC and C.

These are the 3 things needed. Now if you want to make some extra power, it would be nice to control the cam phasing (VVT-i) with something like a PE Camcon.

4G92 MIVEC First Generation Differentiation

From the previous post, I have posted the information about the 4G63T from the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4. So here is another famous engine that most of the car enthusiasts would like to fit to their engine bay. What I am saying is the 4G92 MIVEC 1.6L engine. It is the first generation of the MIVEC system from Mitsubishi where they fitted to the Lancer, Cyborg R and Mirage Asti.

There are three types of engine specification throughout the entire life of the Mitsubishi MIVEC 4G92 first generation engine. There are the normal version MIVEC 170hp known as the silvertop, MIVEC-MD 170hp and the MIVEC RS 175hp(Rally Spec)also known as the blacktop.

4G63T VR4 Differentiation

I had posted some basic information on how to modify the 4G13 and 4G15 for those who not willing to change their factory fitted engine. And now, I would like to post up some information about what kind of engine that commonly get fitted to Proton Saga, Satria, Wira and Putra to replace the factory fitted engine. One of the famous engine is the 4G63T from the Mitsubishi Galant also known as VR-4 (E38A/E39A). The one I am talking here is the machine used by Mitsubishi to participate in the 1988-1992 World Rally Championships. The Galant's 4G63 two litre DOHC turbocharged engine and 4WD transmission was later adopted for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with little modification.

There are three types of engine specification throughout the entire life of the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 (E38A/E39A). There are the 200hp, 220hp and the final version the 240hp. So how we differentiate all these three type engines? The easiest way is to check the wording tag on the inlet manifold. The 200hp is written with the cyclone wording. 220hp is with the cyclone intercooler and the 240hp is written with ECI Multi.

4G13 and 4G15 Modification From Mild to Extreme

This post is created for those who wish to modify their 4G13 and 4G15 from mild to extreme machine. From what I understand, a lot of car enthusiast wish not to go through all the hassle of transplant an engine and they prefer to play on their factory fitted engine. Some will say that you won't gain any knowledge by just putting in a powerful engine without going through the "step by step" modification experience.

Ok, let's start with the 4G13 engine. It is 1.3 liters engine which is known as economic fuel consumtion engine. 4G15 is 1.5 liters model is the base range model and produced a little more HP compare to 4G13. The 1.5 engine is very much your economy engine with only 90hp on engine. It can be modified easily and with surprising results. If going down to NA (naturally aspirated) path, with some modifications you can easily up the HP approximate 120hp on engine. If going to FI (forced induction) path, the low boost turbo systems will easily produce more HP compare to NA path.

TEIN Fake S-Tech Spring

Recently there are a lot of imitation performance parts around the automotive market. Just to name some, MOMO, CUSCO, SARD, HKS, PIVOT, E-Manage and etc. Now, TEIN has join the others as one of imitation products in the market. To be honest, part like those gear knob, oil catch tank and etc that do not really harm or bring side effects to the engine or the car are fine to get those replica/imitation products. However for those like E-Manage blue piggy back ECU which will directly harm and affect your car ECU and wiring is not advisable to use.

For this post I will step you through on a TEIN fake S-Tech spring for Honda Civic by comparing with the original TEIN S-Tech spring. So let's compare both the counterfeit and original spring by looking at the following pictures.
