Nice Kancil/Mira L2s Drag Machine

Recently found out a best drag car 2011 from the net and this is one of the Drag Machine owned by a member of Compact Motorsports - Consonar (CM77). The car is built by ADD Garage from Shah Alam and the car still using the conventional way where there is no engine management used but still using the fuel regulator to setup the engine.

Another thing that I notice is the owner had painted the turbo housing to purple color. Maybe this will start the trend which to color the turbo housing. Let's wait and see in the future. For more pictures, please click the "Read More" button.

Malaysia Police Forces new Patrol Car

Recently our Malaysia Police forces have both themselves few new patrol cars. What model they have in mind now compare to the previous Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. It is the Forte, not pretty sure whether it is from KIA or NAZA. I do not have much specification of these Fortes, not sure whether they are the 1.6L model or the 2.0L model.

This make me has a question in my mind why our Malaysia Police forces do not opt for PROTON cars? This is because what I always think that Malaysia government sectors should always support local products, cars or any other stuffs.

Project Satria: Proton Satria 4G93T Oil Catch Tank Installation

As I promised from previous post here, I would like to share the steps on how to install an oil catch tank for my satria which equipped with a Mitsubishi Lancer GSR 4G93T engine.

It took me about 15 minutes to install the oil catch tank. It is easy to install but it is harder to find a suitable place to place the tank. For my case, I placed it just behind the headlamp where the radiator installed. So for the first step, try to figure out where you plan to place your oil catch tank.

What is an Oil Catch Tank?

An oil catch tank is normally used in turbo engine or those high revving engine where excessive blow-by (leakage past the piston rings) of air and fuel vapor occurs. This creates a positive pressure in the crankcase.

In order to release this pressure from the engine, car manufacturers have placed a valve on the engine block. This valve is known as a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. During engine operation, blow-by gases, as well as oil mist from the rotating components of the engine, pass through the PCV valve and are routed back into the intake for the engine to burn off.

The Formula Atlantic 240HP 4AGE 16 Valves

4AGE a well known Toyota 1.6L engine that normally people will think that it is from a Toyota Trueno/Levin AE86 or the 4AGE 20V from the AE1xx series. This is due to the famous animation cartoon - Initial D. From what I know off, a lot of people confuse this engine with the 20 valve silvertop used in the infamous panda Trueno in Initial D cartoon. Just to let you guys know that they are totally different engine. The Formula Atlantic has been a 16 valve throughout its 15 year career in these series while the 20 valve TRD silvertop was used in the Japanese counterpart used in Group A.

4G93T Modification From Mild To Extreme Part 1

Finally is time to write modify information for 4G93T. For all the first generation 4G93T owner (I am one of the proud owner :D), hope this modify information will help you all.

It is easier for a turbo engine to increase HP compare to NA (Normally Aspirated) engine. We can simple increase the boost slightly but not over the 4G93T limit. From my research, 4G93T original internal parts are able to withstand up to 100kPa (14.5PSI). With slightly increase of boost pressure, the original injectors, fuel pump and the ECU are still able to work as expected.

Chassis Reinforcement Information

When comes to modify a car, stability and chassis strengthening are always a MUST part to upgrade. High Performance Chassis Reinforcement, Strut Tower Bars, Lower Tie Bar, Stabilizer and Under Brace strengthen vehicle chassis are always in consideration. When you drive into a turn, your chassis flexes due to its size and weight. This prevents the suspension and steering from doing their job properly. With the addition of chassis braces, strut bars, tie bars, lower stabilizer and under brace reinforcement the car is stiffened and responds to your steering more predictably.

4G93 Modification From Mild to Extreme

For those 4G93 engine (first generation) owners who wish to modify their engine to on path with the Honda B18C, let's continue to read this post. All these information of this post were gathered from the net. Thus, I would like to thank all the author of these informative articles.

In any engine, the only way to make more power is by adding more air and fuel. This is why Turbocharger and Supercharger came in mind in the early decade. For Normally Aspirated (NA), we can try to increase the breathing performance and efficiency. There are several ways to increase the breathing efficiency and here are some of those things that help to improve the performance of the engine.

Duratech Racing Camshaft For MIVEC

Another alternative for MIVEC 4G92 owner who wish to upgrade their cam shaft - Duratech. This is quite a new brand in Malaysia and currently not much information about it but based on the seller's information, this camshaft specification is totally similar with JUN specification racing camshaft , Type 2 which is;

IN(260)8.976mm ; (304)11.30mm
EX(256)8.476mm ;(304)10.80mm

The price for this racing cam shaft is at RM2999. The package does not includes valve springs. So for those buyers who fully squish out all the performance from the racing cam shaft, they need to opt for another racing valve springs from JUN or RPW.

Satria JDM 4G13 Turbo Video

Previously I had posted a post regarding a mighty Satria JDM 4G13 Turbo machine here. Here is a nice video shared by the owner (Cheese). After finished watching the video, what a impressive performance generated by a 4G13p engine. For guys who wish to upgrade your 4G13p engine, maybe you can have a look on what had done to the car.

Ferrari 360 Challenge

Introduce the Ferrari 360 Challenge and this is a real fighter putting many technology in from Ferrari F1. Paddle shifter realizes accurate shifting, also avoids over revving. Chassis performance has made rapid progress from this F360, double wishbone suspension is very flexible that you’ll never get needless pitching even when you go over the kerbs, and very fast through high speed corners. Good turn in increases the exit speed and makes an impact on lap times.

Performance is slightly upgraded and tuned to provide strong punch at 6000 to 8500 rpm compare with the standard machine. You can enjoy MICHELOTTO 360GTC-like sound from straight modified exaust. Prancing horse fighter is always full of attraction.

Satria JDM 4G13 Turbo

A member of SPOC since 2006. Always a hidden member who just like to read other members posts and seldom participate in posting. However recently I come across an interesting post who the owner (cheese) posting the make over of his Proton Satria to JDM Mirage Cyborg R. As a JDM lover, this make me to have a mind set that if I got extra money; I would like to get another Proton Satria and convert to JDM Mirage Cyborg R. JDM rules!!!

The car is nicely done and make me can’t resist not to post it here. Started off from a 1.3L Proton Satria, the owner (cheese) extract out from every little bit and pieces. He has the passion to go all out to convert his Proton Satria to JDM spec Mirage Cyborg. Beside the exterior and interior, the engine still remains the same 4G13p but now with a T in it. The engine is well tuned and able to smoke any of higher cc cars anytime.

R3 to release Proton Inspira-X

The release of new Proton Inspira is the hope for those who wish to own a Mitsubishi Lancer and a bit of a thorn on the side of those who already own a Lancer. There's no doubt that it's a good car; it's built by Mitsubishi so there's certain standards that it has to adhere to.

While bookings are already open, deliveries have not started as yet, but as soon as that happens, it will also mark the beginning of a culture that comes with the release of any new Proton model - modification.

So what we can do for this Proton Inspira? My guess is definitely would be the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X look alike bodykit to be fitted to Inspira.

Project Kancil: Some Upgrades For My Kancil

Went back to home town last week to get my rear screen repaired. Try to read my previous post here if you want to know what happen to my rear screen. My dad managed to source me the rear screen at only RM10 and thanks to him because of helping me to bring my car to the mechanic to have the screen changed and the labor charge is only RM30. It consider cheap because the work needed was way complicated as what I thought.

However, the workmanship provided is pretty good. So far still has not face any water leakage and of cause this is what I am not hoping to face anyway.

Project Kancil: Bad Thing Happen

Last week, my girl friend met an accident and her car faced a major damage on the left fender. So I lent my car to her and she parked my car outside of her condo. It was OK for the first few days but in the morning of 9th of Oct 2010 when I went over to drive my car, I notice that my rear screen was broken. Not sure what happen, suspected that some low can sons tried to break into my car but luckily nothing was stolen. Can't really source out a rear screen from halfcut shop, therefore I used a tape to tape it to secure it. What a bad day for me and stupid act by those idiots who tried to break into my car because there is nothing to steal (no meters at all) except the pioneer CD player which probably cost less than RM100.

Project Satria: Some update after accident

Long time never update my Satria after I met the accident. You can have a look on what happen to my car here. What I can say is luckily my car does not have any major damage except small crack on the bumper which is able to repair and front bonnet. Since I am out of budget that so I decided to remain my bumper and just changed the bonnet. The bonnet is Taiwan and it cost me about RM200++ and now my car is waiting for some nice paint job.

Anyway here is the picture of my car currently. A black bonnet with a crack bumper. I will send my Satria to do the paint together with my Kancil. However my Kancil is still pending on suspension upgrade, exhaust upgrade and a pair of HID for the fog lamp.

Comparing 20v Silvertop with MIVEC Blacktop

20v Silvertop is the engine head (top part) from Toyota Corolla Levin E-AE101-ACMZF 4A-GE using 4 throttles and semi intelligent VVT. MIVEC Blacktop is the engine head from Mitsubishi 4G92, the first engine that equipped with MIVEC technology.

20v Silvertop's head weight 12 kg, while MIVEC Blacktop's head only weight around 7 kg. Why is Toyota's head so much heavier? Here is the answer. Notice the 4 valves per cylinder versus the 5 valves per cylinder.

Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback (1992-1994)

Since I am driving a Proton Satria a re-badged model of Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback from 1992-1995, I would like to share some information about the Mirage models available. I noticed that in Malaysia got a lot of JDM lovers who trying to change their Proton Satria bodykit to Mitsubishi Mirage. However halfcut shops around Malaysia keep giving misleading information to JDM lovers. For example, telling the buyer Mirage RS bumper come with a pair of projector fog lamp where this isn't the true story. Thus, I hope with this information; we can have a clearer picture of which models equipped with which kind of bumper design and fog lamp.

Basically, there are 5 different type of bumper designs. The big fog lamp, big fog lamp socket only, small fog lamp, small fog lamp socket only and the small projector fog lamp. Halfcut shops will charge differently for different bumper design and the most expensive is Mirage Cyborg R.

DIY: L5 Dashboard Blower Wiring

Ok, previously I had post about the DIY for wiring L5 meter. Now I would like to post about the L5 dashboard blower wiring. When changing to L5 dashboard, it is recommended that you change the blower as well to have the it fit nicely to L5 dashboard. If you plan to use back the Kancil dashboard blower, you will see some gab between the blower and the plastic piping which direct the air to the aircond vent.

Installation is quite simple since the L5 blower is just plug and play with the L5 dashboard. The only problem is that Kancil blower does come with 4 fan speeds while L5 blower is only 3 fan speeds. So in this case, we need to wiring carefully based on what is the speed you wish to match from Kancil to L5. You can match Kancil fan speed 2,3,4 to L5 fan speed 1,2,3. Alternatively you may match Kancil fan speed 1,3,4 to L5 fan speed 1,2,3. This is just up to your preference.

DIY: Wiring Meter Daihatsu Mira L5

Since currently I am into K-Car (Kancil aka Mira) modification, I would like to share some information about this. As everyone knows that Kancil and Mira (L5 or L2) share almost everything including the dashboard. As for me, I don't really like Kancil dashboard because of the outdated design. So I made up my mind to change to Mira L5 dashboard where it looks nicer to me. However the meter of the Kancil does not really fit in to L5 dashboard and it is a must for anyone who change to L5 dashboard to change to the L5 meter as well.

For those who love to DIY the installation of L5 dashboard, here is the meter wiring for L5 matching to Kancil 660/850. For L2 meter wiring matching to Kancil 660/850 is over here.

Project Kancil: Mira L502s Auto Installation In Progress

Recently I am very busy about my MSc study and of cause my work and now finally I got time to blog little about my small little Kancil Mira wannnabe. Brought my car and the halfcut to P44 Autoworks on 28th of August 2010 at noon time. Then I left the shop about 2 hours later after some short discussion with Gar and Murad from P44 Autoworks on what to be done on the car.

In the conversation with Gar, I told him that I hope to have my car done for a week of time. And damn, you know what is the result? P44 Autoworks able to done the conversion within a week and everything done nicely even in the month of fasting season for Muslims. Salute to them and big clap for the mechanics in P44 Autoworks.

How VVTL-i Works

The Toyota VVTL-i system or "lift" is similar to Honda's VTEC system, incorporating two distinct cam profiles. However, the actual mechanism is quite different. Both cam lobes operate a single wide rocker arm that acts on both intake or both exhaust valves. A needle-bearing roller on the arm follows the low-rpm, short-duration, low-lift lobe, forcing both valves to open and close on that profile.

The roller design and roller bearings on the rocker arm pivot help to minimize valvetrain friction. The high-rpm, higher-duration, longer-lift lobe rubs on a hardened steel slipper follower mounted to the rocker arm with a spring. Even though the high-rpm lobe is pushing down further than the low-rpm lobe, the spring absorbs the extra movement.

Mitsubishi EVO X Coupe For Sale on Ebay

The Mitsubishi Evolution X is a great looking machine but one would be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a well kitted Mitsubishi Lancer, bar a few tell tale differences. While browsing around the net for some interesting car stuffs, I stumbled across this yummy offering, a custom Evo X Coupe, and it's for sale!

The whole thing is a yet to be completed project and thus far the previous owner has done away with the two rear doors, slapped on a wide body kit, deep dish alloy wheels with carbon fiber centers, coilover suspensions, a upgraded turbocharger together with upgraded injectors and meth injection. It also comes with a ton of ICE equipment from Focal and Kenwood.

Nice Widebody Celica (APR) From Japan

Hatyai and Songkhla Trip during 53th Merdeka day

Finally had a long holiday for me to enjoy a holiday trip to Hatyai and Songkhla with my parents and my girl friend. Nothing much to say and I would just like to share some pictures that I took during the trip.

This was the breakfast for the very first day when we reached Hatyai. Four bowls of bird nest and a big bowl of shark fins for 4 person.

Both My Little Shih Tzu

Just to share both my little Shih Tzu. The bigger one is a male and my love and I bought it last December. It is only 3 months old when we bought it. However we noticed that he is very lonely because during the day we left him alone at home and during the night we seldom got time to play with him. Therefore we started to look a girl friend for him. After 6 months of searching, we managed to find a female Shih Tzu from linggene kernel. Here are the photos of both of them.

Project Kancil: Halfcut Mira L502 Auto

Went to hurt for halfcut at Bukit Minyak and finally able to look for something that is within my budget. The halfcut that I took for is from the Daihatsu Mira L502 which equipped with a JB-JL 660 Auto 4 cylinders 16v turbo. Thought taking the L200s and the price for it is way too expensive for an old engine. Therefore decided to take a newer engine and hope there is no extra care for the problem that always faced by an old engine.
Why I am getting an auto tranny instead of the manual tranny. First of all, it is cheaper. Secondly it is for a daily drive car and auto is a best suit for it. Besides that, my girl friend does not know how to drive a manual tranny car. When I wish to drive manual and want to get something big from this tiny engine, I can always change the Kancil manual gearbox with the auto gearbox.

Mitsubishi Gearbox Information

Here is another useful information for Mitsubishi gearbox users. This is a very useful information for those who wish to know more about their Mitsubishi gearbox. This information is for the gearbox made by Mitsubishi from 1992 until 1996.

Mitsubishi Engine Alternative Stroker Kits

Thinking of increase your car engine to a bigger displacement? TOMEI stroker kit is a good product for a 4G63T Mitsubishi EVO engine which increase the displacement from 2.0L to 2.2L or 2.3L. However, TOMEI's product do not always come cheap and which this is a burden for a car enthusiast like me. Furthermore there is not many stroker kit available for the 4G93T from a well known manufacturers.

Therefore, another alternative method is like something that how Honda's enthusiasts did to their engines. For example, increasing a B16 to 2.0L by changing the block to B20B from a Honda CRV. Another example is the K20 engine from a 2.0L to 2.4L by using the K24 engine block from the Accord.

Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg Gearbox Codes, Ratios and factory LSD

I have a good information here to share with all the MIVEC first and second generation users. Having a gearbox number and do not know much about it and wonder whether your gearbox does have LSD? Or wanted to know more about the gear ratio of every gear? Here is the information about the gearbox codes, ratios and factory LSD models for both the Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg CA4A and CJ4A.

There are more changes from 1998 models but that really only effects 5th gear. At 100kph the in fifth the revs a 200rpm higher in the 1998 spec boxes.

Project Celica: Maintenance Frameless Wiper Blade

Are you as conscientious about your windshield wipers as you are about your car's engine? Worn wiper blades are dangerous. Because 90% of your driving decisions are based on a clear, unobstructed view of the road, it's a critical safety concern that your car's wipers provide you with the cleanest windshield possible.

Had a check on my 1 year old wiper blade and found out that it was already worn out. Therefore it is a good chance for me to try out my new product - frameless wiper blade and for detail information both are measured at size of 16" and 26". The installation of these wiper blade is very easy and it only took me less than a minutes to change it.

4AGE 20V Blacktop Engine/ Service Manual

For those who lucky enough to convert the 4AGE 20V into their beloved Toyota machine for example those Toyota Corolla AE100, AE101, AE111 or older models like the legendary AE86 or even older model like those KE series and unfortunately those halfcut engines do not come with a complete 4AGE 20V engine manual.

Normally we do not really need this since I believe all of you out there have enough knowledge on how to maintain the engine but when comes to the time to look for parts number then this engine manual is great for us to keep or have for.

Here I would like to share with you all the 4AGE 20V Blacktop engine/service manual. Feel free to download it with 0 cost and if you face any difficulties to download it, do drop me a mail or write down your email address in the comment area and I will send a copy to you.

How To Jump Start A Car

Recently I came across that some people out there using a wrong method to jump start a dead battery. Here I would like to teach you step by step everything you need to know to jump start a car with a dead battery. I will also show you photos of the correct jumper cable setup, how to jump start a car battery, and give you dead battery troubleshooting tips and battery & alternator buying tips. Print this page & keep it in your trunk with the jumper cables if possible.

The 3 biggest causes of dead car batteries are leaving your lights on, not maintaining your battery properly with the correct water levels (for older maintenance batteries), and breakdown of the diode bridge or voltage regulator in your alternator. Of course some people get a bad starter, but the odds of that are low compared to the other causes dead car batteries.

63mm Throttle body for MIVEC 4G92

First off heres the side by side view (ok its not a good photo). But you can see the size difference, and the missing half of the center rod, all good for more flow.

The stepper motors were swapped over so the ECU would still know where it was(and so i knew it was a working one). Though i think it winds if fully open everytime its starts, then puts it where it wants it.

In preperation i removed the hoses to the throttle and looped them together, so no water heats the throttle body. I had also removed the little flap inside which is heat controlled.

4G93T GSR First Generation Differentiation

Since Malaysia government had changed the rules and regulation for engine conversion, which all Proton cars except Proton Perdana cannot convert to 2.0L engine, the Mitsubishi Lancer GSR 4G93T is one of the highest horsepower turbo engine that can fit into Proton cars (only applicable for those who wish to register their car to JPJ and legally on the road). From the topic, it is clearly shows that this is the first generation 4G93T GSR 1.8L from the Mitsubishi Lancer.

There are two types of engine specification throughout the entire life of the Mitsubishi 4G93T first generation engine. There are the normal version which capable to produce approximately 190hp and the 4G93T RS from the wagon also known as Libero in Malaysia here which able to produce approximately 210hp.

How to Build a Lift Controller for VVTLi (2ZZ-GE)

The lift controller is comprised of few simple components.

1. An RPM switch - which used an MSD 8969 Digital window switch Found Here.

2. A VVT/VVL solenoid - any solenoid from 1ZZ or 2ZZ

3. A micro switch - Anything that is SPDT or SPST that is NC and C.

These are the 3 things needed. Now if you want to make some extra power, it would be nice to control the cam phasing (VVT-i) with something like a PE Camcon.

4G92 MIVEC First Generation Differentiation

From the previous post, I have posted the information about the 4G63T from the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4. So here is another famous engine that most of the car enthusiasts would like to fit to their engine bay. What I am saying is the 4G92 MIVEC 1.6L engine. It is the first generation of the MIVEC system from Mitsubishi where they fitted to the Lancer, Cyborg R and Mirage Asti.

There are three types of engine specification throughout the entire life of the Mitsubishi MIVEC 4G92 first generation engine. There are the normal version MIVEC 170hp known as the silvertop, MIVEC-MD 170hp and the MIVEC RS 175hp(Rally Spec)also known as the blacktop.

4G63T VR4 Differentiation

I had posted some basic information on how to modify the 4G13 and 4G15 for those who not willing to change their factory fitted engine. And now, I would like to post up some information about what kind of engine that commonly get fitted to Proton Saga, Satria, Wira and Putra to replace the factory fitted engine. One of the famous engine is the 4G63T from the Mitsubishi Galant also known as VR-4 (E38A/E39A). The one I am talking here is the machine used by Mitsubishi to participate in the 1988-1992 World Rally Championships. The Galant's 4G63 two litre DOHC turbocharged engine and 4WD transmission was later adopted for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with little modification.

There are three types of engine specification throughout the entire life of the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 (E38A/E39A). There are the 200hp, 220hp and the final version the 240hp. So how we differentiate all these three type engines? The easiest way is to check the wording tag on the inlet manifold. The 200hp is written with the cyclone wording. 220hp is with the cyclone intercooler and the 240hp is written with ECI Multi.

4G13 and 4G15 Modification From Mild to Extreme

This post is created for those who wish to modify their 4G13 and 4G15 from mild to extreme machine. From what I understand, a lot of car enthusiast wish not to go through all the hassle of transplant an engine and they prefer to play on their factory fitted engine. Some will say that you won't gain any knowledge by just putting in a powerful engine without going through the "step by step" modification experience.

Ok, let's start with the 4G13 engine. It is 1.3 liters engine which is known as economic fuel consumtion engine. 4G15 is 1.5 liters model is the base range model and produced a little more HP compare to 4G13. The 1.5 engine is very much your economy engine with only 90hp on engine. It can be modified easily and with surprising results. If going down to NA (naturally aspirated) path, with some modifications you can easily up the HP approximate 120hp on engine. If going to FI (forced induction) path, the low boost turbo systems will easily produce more HP compare to NA path.

TEIN Fake S-Tech Spring

Recently there are a lot of imitation performance parts around the automotive market. Just to name some, MOMO, CUSCO, SARD, HKS, PIVOT, E-Manage and etc. Now, TEIN has join the others as one of imitation products in the market. To be honest, part like those gear knob, oil catch tank and etc that do not really harm or bring side effects to the engine or the car are fine to get those replica/imitation products. However for those like E-Manage blue piggy back ECU which will directly harm and affect your car ECU and wiring is not advisable to use.

For this post I will step you through on a TEIN fake S-Tech spring for Honda Civic by comparing with the original TEIN S-Tech spring. So let's compare both the counterfeit and original spring by looking at the following pictures.

Proton Campro Engines Fail on Crank after Bolt On Turbo!

Driving a car with CAMPRO engine? Wish to BOT (Bolt On Turbo)? Do follow this post closely on how the CAMPRO Engine fail on crank. Here is a result of a failed CAMPRO engine after BOT. What is the result is BOT DOES NOT FAIL THE CAMPRO CRANK, BOT ONLY ACCELERATE THE FAILING PROCESS OF THE CRANK.

The actual reason of the crank failure is actually from CONROD. Here are some picture I've taken in comparison between a CAMPRO 1.6 CONROD vs a 4G92P CONROD.

Therefore, for those who wish to BOT their CAMPRO engine please upgrade the internal parts of the engine for more reliable and durable engine. By changing to a better forged piston and modify the engine lubrication holes,  you can boost happily without any major problem like this.

How Perodua Alza become after an accident

Found something interested about our newly launched Perodua Alza. Wonder how a Perodua Alza will become after a serious car crashed? And what I managed to find from the internet is just a MIROS Crash Test for Perodua Alza, which you can find it from youtube or watch it at the end of this post.

Here is a real case that a Perodua Alza is being hit hard by a lorry/truck. Just look at the pictures, the car will be totaled and there is no chance to repair it and restore it's glory. I could not judge must on the quality of the car since I am not an expert on this and the car is being hit by a lorry/truck. Furthermore, do notice that the airbag is not deployed even the front of the car is being hit. Therefore I just leave the decision making to those who wish to buy Perodua Alza. Anyway, I am not offending to those who own a Perodua Alza.
